There are a few governing associations for swimming instructors in Singapore which are Singapore Sports Council, SSC (www.ssc.gov.sg) and the Singapore Swimming Teachers’ Association, SSTA (www.singaporesta.com)
SSTA certified instructor is able to teach in private pools such as Condominiums or landed property which SSC certified instructor is able to teach everywhere in Singapore which also includes the public swimming complex.
Joining SSC’s swimming instructor course, applicant must attained the following certification.
- Lifesaving 1, 2 & 3 Certification or Bronze Medallion
- First Aid Certification and/or CPR Certification
- NCAP theory Level 1 (SSC only)
Once you have attained the certifications stated above, you can start to apply for a skill test prior to the instructor’s course.
Upon completing the above courses, you will also be required to complete at least 24 sessions of 1.5 hours of attachment with their associated swim coach or swim school before obtaining your license to teach.
What can we do for you?
- Attend our lifesaving course, which prepares you for lifesaving 1,2 & 3, first aid and CPR Certification. During the lifesaving course, our instructors will help you in preparation of the skill test for the swimming instructor course.
- Join us for the attachment after completion of Swimming instructor course. We are the affiliates of Singapore Swimming Association. (SSC Only)
