Buona Vista Swimming Complex opened its doors to the public on 4 Sep 1976. It is actually situated at Holland Village, where it’s a popular estate for the expats to chill and hangout. It is a relatively small compound with only 40 parking lots for cars and 20 for bikes. Although it may be small, it still contains all the 3 types of pools found in other swimming complexes. Firstly, a wading pool more suited for toddlers to play. Secondly, a teaching pool where most lessons for the beginners are conducted. Finally, a competition pool similar to that of a 50m Olympic size pool, where the more advanced lessons are held.

For parents who are waiting for their child’s lesson to end, you might want to consider visiting Holland Village. Although Holland Village is famous for its bars, there are many other eateries and cafes too. If you’re feeling a little warm, you can consider the many ice cream shops available such as Haagen Dazs, Cold Rock and Island Creamery. Aside from that, there’s a Cold Storage supermarket for your daily needs. There are also a couple of small salons and fashion shops to keep you occupied.

Although it may be a relatively small complex, there are still many lessons being taught especially on the weekends. That is why many swimmers who want to swim freely tend to avoid the weekend congestion. Instead, they will visit the pool on weekdays, where the crowd isn’t that overwhelming. This enables them to have more space to swim and they do not have to share a lane with others. However, please be informed that on Tuesdays, the swimming complex only operates from 2.30pm onward.
