FAQs for Toddler Swimming Lessons
What is the age range to join toddler's classes?
Children between 2 to 5 years old are considered under the Young Toddlers’ category.
Can I group my 3 years old kid with 8 year old kid together?
As they are in different age groups, they will be in different syllabus and classes. The School will try to arrange a back to back classes to facilitate your logistics. However, if your child is turning 5 year old in that year, we can accept him/her into kid’s class depending on the level of competency.
Can I enrol my toddler to join Kid's Swimming Lessons?
It is not advisable to do so. As our kid’s class is design for kids age 5 and above, your child may have difficulty in catching up the pace. It may be counter-productive to do so. If your child is 4.9 years old at the time of registering, we can accept them into kid’s class depending on their level of competence.
Do I need to be in the pool together with my toddler?
Yes, our Infants / Toddlers Programmes are parent-accompanied classes. We encourage both parents to be involved in the child’s learning. Parents are the best teachers and you will learn how to teach your child. By doing so, you can practise at your own time. *Note that only one accompanying adult this period in view of Covid-19.
What should I bring along for the lessons?
1) Baby swimwear ( No wet-suit required, the pool is heated)
2) Approved swim diaper (SnuglyFit or iPlay brands)
3) Parent’s proper and tight-fitting swimsuit (No form of shorts or beachwear is allowed)
4) Baby’s favourite waterproof toys (if any)
7) A clean set of clothing
8) Baby’s food and drinks (Babies tend to be hungry after lessons)
We only allowed Snuglyfit and iPlay brands. Please refer to https://happyfish.sg/diaper/
How long is each lesson?
Little ones tend to have a shorter attention span because everything around is so new to them and there is a possibility of overstimulation of their senses. When this happens, not only do they stop learning, it may also result in them being emotional or cranky (which is actually detrimental to learning). Based on our experience, 30 minutes is a good balance and and achieve good progression.
Are your instructors certified and proficient in handling toddlers?
Our swimming instructors conducting infant classes are fully qualified with the relevant certifications from the AUSTSWIM Infant & Preschool Aquatics. They also have at least a few years of experience conducting toddler classes.
How many students are there in a class?
Each class is capped at 6 students.
Is there any trial lesson available?
Yes, we conduct group trial classes at $58.85 per infant or toddler. A private trial will be at $69.55 and both fees include an approved swim diaper. We understand that it is only a trial, but we seek your kind understanding that many leakages and seepages come from the child’s first swim in a new environment.
My child has asthma, can he/she learn swimming?
Yes, they can definitely learn how to swim. In fact, the breathing of warm, moist air (instead of cold, dry air) may actually help reduce the risk of asthmatic attacks.
