Katong Swimming Complex opened its doors to the public on 1st September 1975. It is situated in Wilkinson Road and is just a 10 minute walk from Mountbatten MRT station. Although it is one of the oldest swimming complex in Singapore, it doesn’t lack in its facilities. All the standard 3 pools such as a wading pool, a teaching pool and a competition pool are available to the public. For beginners, lessons are usually conducted for them at the teaching pool. The competition pool, which is a 50m size Olympic pool, is suitable for more advanced students.

For parents who are waiting for their child’s lesson to end, you might want to consider visiting Leisure Park Kallang. It’s definitely worth a trip down as there are lots of entertainment awaiting. There’s a bowling alley, an ice skating ring, a cinema and a karaoke lounge. If you’re feeling hungry, you won’t have to worry as there is a food court and many other choices of eateries. As for retail wise, the mall consists of various fashion shops, spas and even a pet shop. Feel free to check out the entire store listings here.

Although Katong Swimming Complex may not be as modern as some of the newer swimming complexes, it is a still an accessible location for those living around that estate. Thus, you will notice that there is normally a weekend crowd especially in the mornings. As for the weekdays, it can be rather quiet at times. If you’re the type of swimmer that prefers a bigger surface area to maneuver about, then it will be more advisable to arrange for your swim on a weekday. Do take note that on Tuesdays, Katong Swimming Complex only opens from 2.30pm onward. Hence, ensure that you plan out your schedule accordingly.
