Swimming is a fun and relaxing activity for the entire family. It promotes a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
However, parents have to observe the following safety precautions at the pool to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning experience.
- Always accompany your child and keep an eye on them when they are swimming in the pool.
- Ensure that the water level is not above your child’s chest area. This is an indication to show if the water is too deep for the child.
- Swimming equipments like floats can help to improve your child’s technique and prevent accidents from occurring too. Therefore it is recommended to purchase a float to assist your child’s learning process.
-
If the weather turns bad and thunder starts roaring, leave the pool immediately. Do not take your chances.
- Before entering the pool, be aware of where the lifeguards and rescue aids are situated.
Hi Shawn
Just happened to come across your article on your blog. Child safety is so important.
The year that I got married, some 7 years ago, the wife of my secondary school principal, she left her 9 year old son in the care of a stranger on the shore, whilst she went to the changing room. When she came out, the child had already drowned inside the public pool. The wife could never get to come to terms with her carelessness for a long time.
Hi Eunice, glad to hear from you again.
Yes, child safety is definitely the main priority. I’m extremely sorry to hear that incident. We strongly recommend that parents be around to observe their children at all times to prevent any tragedies from occurring.
