• Pool entry. Lessons at a public pool cost an entry fee per visit for the child and for the accompanying adult. At your own condo it is zero.
• Travel time. Not money, but real. A 30-minute drive each way to a public pool for a 45-minute lesson doubles the time cost, every week.
• Lost lessons. Rain and lightning stop lessons at outdoor pools. Check whether a provider replaces a rained-off lesson; on this site a make-up lesson is added to the end of your package automatically.
• Equipment. Goggles that fit, a cap, a rash guard for sunny pools. Kickboards and teaching aids are usually the coach's job.

Are private swimming lessons worth it?

Is there a package lock-in, and can I get a refund?

On this site, packages are 4 or 8 lessons with a validity window of 8 or 14 weeks from the first lesson, and you can start with a single trial lesson if you are unsure. You can move any lesson once, up to 24 hours before it starts. Cancel a lesson 24 hours or more ahead and a make-up lesson is added; rained-off lessons are never deducted. If you want to stop, cancel the rest of the package and every lesson 24 hours or more away is refunded. The terms have the exact wording.
